LG cooktop model families
LG cooktops split by fuel, and the prefix tells you which — the first step in any LG cooktop repair. LSCE covers electric radiant cooktops in the LG STUDIO line (LSCE305ST 30-inch, LSCE365ST 36-inch), CBIH and CBIS cover induction (CBIH3613BE 36-inch, the LG STUDIO CBIS3618BE), and LCG, LSCG and CBGS cover gas (LCG3011ST 30-inch, LCG3611ST 36-inch, LSCG307ST, CBGS3028S). The number relates to width, and the suffix encodes the finish.
What the technology means for service
The three fuels mean three repair platforms. An LSCE electric cooktop uses radiant elements with switches and a control; a CBIH/CBIS induction cooktop is an electronics-driven surface with induction coils and touch controls that heat magnetic cookware directly; and an LCG gas cooktop is a system of sealed burners, igniters and valves, some with an UltraHeat Power Burner for high output. Identifying the prefix tells a technician which parts and diagnostic approach apply. The guide on how induction cooktops work explains the magnetic-coil principle.
Reading the model and where to find it
The rating plate on a cooktop is on the underside of the unit, accessible from the cabinet below. Record the full model string before booking so the correct igniter, induction coil, element or control is matched to your cooktop.
Gas versus induction versus electric
The three fuels suit different cooks, and the difference carries through to service. A gas cooktop gives an instant visible flame and precise simmer control but relies on igniters and sealed burners that need occasional cleaning; an induction cooktop is the most responsive and efficient, heating cookware directly, but needs induction-ready pans and is the most electronics-dependent; and an electric radiant cooktop offers a clean, simple smooth-top surface. Our guide on gas vs induction weighs the trade-offs. Knowing which fuel you own tells a technician the parts to bring and explains the symptoms you may see.
